Best cycling locations near Bangalore: Cycling in Bangalore, India’s Garden City, could be a wonderful experience.
The fresh breeze and abundance of greenery that you come across as you cycle is an unrivaled experience. Exploring scenic areas on your bike is not only healthy but also necessary for reducing your carbon footprint.
1.Nandi Hills:
The destination for cyclists in Bangalore is Nandi Betta. This is our hill, and I could add a lovely one. This is an excellent place to ride together with friends for a weekend.
The route from Stonehill is both the more picturesque and quiet. This trail may at first be quite confusing because the village roads have a few turns, but we would recommend riding. From beginning to end, the way is sweet. The cycling route here starts at the base of the Nandi Hills.
The local children here are delighted to see cyclists, and will certainly smile and encourage you. On your way to Nandi, you will find cows, sheep, and other domestic animals!
The airport travel is quicker because it’s slowed down by fewer speed bumps and traffic. But be careful of the traffic, because it’s the main road. This is a good route if you are in a fast group and are willing to move forward. It’s quite fantastic to climb the Nandi!
The higher you go, the better the view of the wind. This would be a feastful ride for advanced cyclers. If you’re here early, the sun always looks lovely from here. If your lucky day is, the experience might be moist at the top and dry at the bottom.
The busiest day on a hill is usually Sunday, with many tourists from all over town. The hill is, however, hardly traffic on weekdays and if you have the time it’s perfect to visit. Alternatively, Saturday is the perfect day for the trip.
2.Turahalli Forest:
Turahalli Forest is a well-established cycle route for Bangaloreans off the road of Kanakpura. Here you can either visit Uttarahalli or Banashankari. Considered to be Bengaluru’s last surviving forest region, Turahalli Forest is among the best places to cycle in Bangalore.
This hilly land in the city of Bangalore is frequented by climbers and runners. It offers some challenges. The trail begins in Kanakpura Road for approximately 0,5 km with a slight ascent, where a left climb leads to a temple.
The trail leads to the forest, heading right at the junction. Another main attraction in Turahalli, the Shanimahatma Temple Climb, is approximately 1 km from the center of the trail. This trail needs approximately 3-4 hours for completion.
A mountain bike beginner will taste through these steep uphill and downhill paths. You should add this to the bucket list. This is a great cycling spot.
3.Manchinbele Dam :
The Manchanabele Dam is located about 40 km from Bangalore town, built across the Arkavathi River. For nature lovers and cyclists of course this is the perfect place to get away.
The roads are just awesome and the views all around are amazing. Manchanabele is a great place to ride if you go on a bike or want fantastic exercise. This is an ideal place for beginners to travel more distances and to enjoy their endurance as the trail holds an intermediate level of difficulty.
This route begins at Big Banyan Tree and needs around 3-4 hours for its completion. There is an incredibly beautiful area around the dam itself; take plenty of pictures!
When you descend the last stretch, the dam and the river itself will reveal. The roads roll and the heat will reach you after 10 a.m., so make sure your journey is full of water and food. Because this is a remote area, there are few places where food or water can be refilled.
There is a path that goes even closer to the dams, which are accessible to the public only. But if you’re lucky, you can go into the guard and you can really get near the river, maybe you can take a dip!
4.Cubbon Park:
This overcrowded city of Bangalore is lunged by Cubbon Park. The density of the trees and the amount of fresh air in the town, except Lalbagh, are not the same. Certainly, you don’t have to activate your cardiovascular system in all this green and fresh air to obtain the much-needed dose of clean fresh air.
All-day the park is available for the public and is open from 5 am to 8 am in the morning for road transport. This cycling route starting from the Kasturba circle requires around one hour for its accomplishment. An ideal place for an easy, refrigerated ride.
The roads are closed to road traffic on Sundays. Cubbon Park on Sundays is the perfect place to start if you want to go in and out on the bike.
5.Thattekere:
Thattekere Lake is located in the vicinity of the Kanive Mahadeshwara Temple on the hills within the Bannerghatta National Park.
Bike along the wild area, instead of the more famous Kanakapura Road, through Ragihall and Bannerghatta. The quiet lake and picturesque views give your bike perfect scenery. You can also find a few birds if you’re lucky.
6.Hesarghatta:
It could be a little far from the town of Hesaraghatta. But the continuous bike path and the greenery provide the perfect experience for cycling. This long bike path has a beautiful panoramic view.

Want to visit some of Bangalore’s popular destinations? One such destination, as we call it in Kannada, is DoddaAalada Mara (Big Banyan Tree). A single tree covering more than 3 acres is a destination to be visited. Head early in the day to beat the heat and the traffic mainly on the way back.
Go via Outer Ring Road and then to Kommalghatta Lake, in the direction of Bangalore University. Take the Tavarekere-Kengeri Road and ride to different villages. The ground rolls asphalt.
Turn up the steady climbs, push the flats hard and get back down again. Just before you reach Magadi Road, turn left into DoddaAalada Mara (Big Banyan Tree). Don’t be amazed if some children in the villages cheer you on.
You have to turn left 6 km, to reach Big Banyan Tree, another turn is necessary. Stop by the side of the road and see the map of Strava for the feeling that a turn has been missed.
There is moderate traffic on this road with buses and trucks making the cycling level an intermediate level of difficulty. There are many shops around the Big Banyan for a pit stop.
Get some fuel and be willing to go along some lovely roads. This route commences from the Mysore road and takes a total of 3-4 hours for its completion.
9.Rajankunte :
Before you arrive at Hesaraghatta on your cycle, you will be guided by a lush green tree with empty roads. This one of the favorite places to explore the luxuriant greenery of Garden City by bicycles and cyclists.
You can have a gala time with your friends by cycling just about 30 kilometers away from the city here.
10.Kanakpura and JP Nagar residential Areas:
Kanakapura Road is definitely one of the most popular biking spots in Bangalore. This is so popular and picturesque that you’re sure to hit bikers. The rolling ground is beautiful and traffic is relatively small.
You can find a lot of old residential areas if you stay around Koramangala or JP Nagar. The roads are generally good. The areas are very rounded and trees covered. Early in the morning or afternoons would be the best time to cycle!
The 5th block of Kormanagal has many such places. The 5th Block Post Office can be explored in localities. 5th block is another good place in Jayanagar. You can go to Madhavan Park from there to LalBaugh if you want to cycle longer distances. It’s going to be a good 20 km ride.
11.Bangalore University:
Bangalore University is one of Bangalore’s best mountain biking spots with fantastic roads, rolling terrains, minimal traffic, spots, and hydrate.
Coming to the University of Bangalore is quite a walk, but there is a bike path for 1-2 km. the cycling route starts from the Nagarbhavi Circle and takes around 40-60 minutes to be completed.
You can also go on one of the quieter roads, not just lovely to ride, but also zero vehicles. Bicycling on Bangalore University Road is a good place to begin if you train to improve fitness or endurance. The area becomes very dark and so riding after 7 pm is not recommended.
12.Nelamangala:
The Nelamangala 100 is the ideal cycling route for you if you are looking for a journey of a day to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. This trail starts at Tumkur road and requires about 4-6 hours for its completion and leads the trial of an intermediate level of difficulty.
A scenic route that makes it one of the favorites of city cyclists with its low traffic, waterlily filled lakes, and smooth tarmac. Despite the light traffic, once you reach the Mysore road, you will be in a great position to cycle against the clock’s downhill nature.
This route is rolling ground with a height increase of 1266 meters. Take care not to wear a hollow and drive safely, but to start quickly to avoid heat and traffic.
13.Pipeline:
Due to their quiet and sweet terrain, the Pipeline Road is a popular bike route for cyclists in Bangalore. You will be led to the pipeline road if you head towards Uttarahalli through Devegowda Petrol Bunk.
This peaceful trail begins at Uttarhalli Main Road and needs about 4-6 hours to complete. The steep descents can make your ride quickly, but the incoming traffic has to be cautious.
The road is straight on both sides with plenty of greenery and holds an intermediate level of difficulty. Make sure that the climb and the countryside are well hydrated.
